The component

What it is, and why it is in the system

Kapsel LED Zoom Headlamp is a rechargeable headlamp for short term personal lighting during power cuts, outdoor use and everyday activities. You wear it with the elastic headband and adjust it so the lamp sits securely without excessive pressure, then set beam angle and brightness before use. It is included in the Kapsel System to give you reliable, hands free light when visibility is low. The headlamp lets you see and be seen while your hands stay free to carry children, open doors, cook, handle first aid or read instructions during a disruption.

Use

How to use it

Try the headlamp once in calm conditions so putting it on and changing modes feels natural when you really need it.
  1. Fit the headband around your head or over a hat and adjust the strap so the lamp sits securely but does not press too hard.
  2. Set the beam angle and brightness before you start moving so you can see the ground and what is in front of you without constantly adjusting.
  3. Press the button to switch the headlamp on and cycle through available modes until you find the brightness that gives enough light without wasting power.
  4. Charge the headlamp with the supplied USB cable and a 5 V USB charger or power bank. Charge on a flat, non combustible surface and under supervision. Disconnect when fully charged.
  5. Never shine the beam directly into the eyes of yourself, children or animals. Use lower brightness for close work and when you are facing other people.
  6. After use, switch the lamp off, wipe it dry if it has been exposed to moisture and place it back in your Energy & Light capsule. For long term storage, top up the charge at least every three months.

Scenarios

When you will need it

The headlamp is your main tool for seeing and being seen when you need both hands free.

Power cuts at home: Use the headlamp when walking through dark hallways, taking the stairs, checking fuses or packing your Kapsel so you do not have to juggle a handheld flashlight and other items.

Moving with children or carrying things: Hands free light makes it easier and safer to carry a child, groceries or bags while still seeing where you put your feet.

Outdoor use and evacuations: If you need to leave your home in low light or move around an outdoor area, the headlamp lets you navigate, read signs and stay visible to others.

Everyday activities: You can also use the headlamp for everyday tasks like walking the dog, checking the car, working in a storage room or doing small repairs. When you are done, recharge it and return it to your Kapsel.

Contents

What is included

  1. Kapsel LED Zoom Headlamp with integrated rechargeable lithium ion battery."
  2. Elastic adjustable headband attached to the lamp.
  3. USB charging cable for use with 5 V USB chargers and power banks.
  4. Printed quick instructions and safety summary as part of your Kapsel instruction book.
  5. Access to full manual, safety information and Declaration of Conformity via QR code and the Kapsel manuals page.
For most households we recommend one headlamp per adult and older child, so each person who might move around in the dark has their own light. At a minimum you should have one headlamp in every Kapsel System that you rely on in your home, car or cabin.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Why choose a headlamp instead of a torch?

A headlamp keeps both hands free, which matters when you are checking the fuse box, cooking on the stove or helping someone in the dark. It is part of your Kapsel Energy & Light capsule.

How is it powered?

It recharges over USB, so you can top it up from the power bank in the same capsule during a longer power outage.

What is the zoom function for?

The beam adjusts from wide flood to focused throw, so you can light a whole room or send light further down a corridor or path.

How do I keep it ready?

Charge it fully, store it in the capsule, and recharge it at the twice-yearly clock change so it is always ready for seven days without power.
