The flame is small and steady. The sleeve stays cool, so you can eat straight from the pot.

A 230 g gas cartridge fits inside the pot, together with the burner, the stand and the pot support. The whole stove goes into the mesh bag and takes up space as a single item in your capsule.

Kapsel Compact Gas Stove is a portable gas stove, for outdoor cooking only. It's used with threaded EN 417 butane cartridges (type 200). It's included so you have heat to cook with when everyday life is disrupted. With the gas stove you boil water, make simple hot meals and drinks, and get the most out of the rest of your preparedness when the electricity is gone.

When you will need it

Kapsel Compact Gas Stove is for outages and outdoor situations where you need to cook simple food. It isn't for heating rooms.

Power cuts and other outages: Use the stove outdoors, somewhere safe and well ventilated, to boil water, heat simple food or make hot drinks when the electricity and cooker aren't working.
At home, at the cabin, in the countryside and on road trips: Pack the stove with your Kapsel for the cabin, the countryside or a road trip, where you may not have a kitchen but can cook safely outdoors.
Boiling water for drinking and hygiene: When you're unsure about the water, boiling is one of the best ways to reduce harmful microorganisms. Combine it with Kapsel's other ways of treating water when needed.
Practice day: Use the stove on a planned day to cook outside, boil water and try out the equipment. Let it cool, unscrew the cartridge and put it back in the Energy & Light capsule, so it's ready for real.

How to use it

Try the gas stove once outdoors when things are calm, so screwing in the cartridge and lighting the flame feel familiar before you need it for real.

Before first use: check that the stove is intact and undamaged, and that the O-ring and threads are clean and whole. Place the stove securely on a flat, non-flammable surface, outdoors and away from anything that could catch fire.
Close the valve. Screw an EN 417 butane cartridge (type 200) straight into the connection and tighten by hand, not too hard. Brush soapy water around the connection. If it bubbles, don't use the stove. Close the valve, unscrew the cartridge and start again.
Place a suitable pot on the supports. Don't use a bigger pot or more contents than recommended, and make sure it stands securely.
Open the valve slowly and light the burner with the built-in igniter or a lighter, depending on the model. Keep your hands and face to the side. Adjust the flame with the valve, and never leave the stove while it's lit.
Close the valve fully when you're done. Wait until the flame is out and the stove has cooled completely before you move or pack it.

One gas stove per Kapsel is enough for most households, as long as you can reach a safe place outdoors to cook. If you keep a system in the car, at the cabin or in a holiday home, an extra gas stove can be useful, so each place can manage on its own.
