Do the capsules come pre packed with gear or empty?
- All Kapsel 9L capsules come pre packed with the core items listed on each product page.
- Energy & Light includes cooking, power and light.
- Health & Hygiene includes water treatment, first aid and hygiene basics.
- Personal & Shelter includes warmth and personal care items for one person.
- Each capsule also has reserved pockets so you can add your own items where it makes sense.
What is the difference between Energy & Light, Water & Health and Personal & Shelter?
- Energy & Light is for cooking, power and light during a power outage or similar disruption.
- Water & Health is for clean water, basic first aid and everyday hygiene when services are limited.
- Personal & Shelter is personal. It is built for warmth, personal care and small essentials for one person.
- Together they cover the core needs for a realistic 72 hour disruption at home or on the move.
How many capsules do I need for my household?
Think household first, person second.
- Energy & Light is usually one per household.
- Health & Hygiene is usually one per household, with refills over time.
- Personal & Shelter is one per person.
- A single household might choose 1 of each.
- A family of four might choose 1 Energy & Light, 1 Health & Hygiene and 4 Personal & Shelter capsules.
How do the capsules work with the Kapsel 30L Bag?
All 9L capsules are built to fit the Kapsel 30L Bag. The bag interior is sized for capsules so they sit in fixed positions. You can also store capsules on a shelf if you prefer. The front label on each capsule makes it easy to see what is inside and which capsule to grab first in the dark or under stress.
Can I add my own items to the capsules?
Yes. Every capsule has reserved space for your own items.
Typical additions are medication, copies of IDs, child specific items, small tools or extra food. The idea is that Kapsel gives you a curated and documented base, and you layer your life on top of it without losing structure.
What about expiry dates and refills?
Some items have expiry dates, especially in Water & Health. The printed and digital guides show you which items to check and how often. When something is used or close to expiry you can refill with Kapsel Refill Packs or equivalent items from your local pharmacy or store. You do not need to replace the whole capsule.
Are the capsules only for home use, or can I travel with them?
The capsules are designed to live where you do, which often means the hallway or a shelf at home. Many people also use them in the car, in a countryside house or as a compact travel kit. If you use a capsule for a trip, repack it to the same layout when you come back so it is ready for emergencies again.
Can children use the contents of the capsules?
Older children can help use parts of the system under adult supervision. For example headlamps, towels and some water tools. The guides are written to be clear and step by step. As with all emergency equipment, you should practice together before you need it and always keep medicines and certain tools out of reach of small children.
Where should I store my capsules?
Store capsules where you can reach them quickly.
Typical places are the Kapsel 30L Bag by the door, a hall closet, a bedroom cupboard or a shelf near the kitchen. Avoid attics, basements or external storage where you would lose time getting to them.
What happens if my household changes over time?
The system is built to adapt.
If your household grows you usually add more Personal & Shelter capsules. If someone moves out you can keep, repack or retire their capsule. Energy & Light and Water & Health normally stay one per household. This way you can adjust to new life situations without rebuilding your entire kit.
